[F1 2019 VIDEO FEATURE] KIMI RAIKKONEN: ICEMAN ON A CHARGE

Kimi Raikkonen has continued to impress on track, with the ‘Ice Man’ taking seventh place at the Hungarian Grand Prix, to sit eighth in the drivers’ championship as we head towards Belgium.

While demotions from top teams can be a negative for some in the paddock, the Finn has shown he still has what it takes, after moving from Ferrari to Alfa Romeo Racing on a two-year deal.

The 39 year-old returned to the team, which gave him his start in Formula 1 back in 2001, full of positivity and enthusiasm at the C38 launch, pre-season.

SOUNDBITE (English) KIMI RÄIKKÖNEN,
F1 DRIVER, ALFA ROMEO RACING:
“It is great to be back, it is a change from where I used to be in the last years. I am very happy, obviously, or I wouldn’t be here today. It will be exciting as soon as we get back into the cars we will see what we can do.”

Since starting with the team, until rejoining in 2019, Raikkonen won the world drivers’ championship, 21 races and stood on the podium 103 times.

And the growth has not only been seen in the driver, but also in the team itself.

F1 DRIVER, ALFA ROMEO RACING:
“It’s a lot bigger, with a great wind tunnel, great facilities they don’t miss anything on that side, for sure, hopefully, we can do well.”

There is no doubt the Espoo-born racer has taken charge of the team, alongside Antonio Giovinazzi.

Raikkonen has out-qualified the Italian 8 of 12 sessions, along with finishing ahead in 10 races, compared to 1 for Giovinazzi, there is 30 points difference between the teammates.

A great result for the veteran racer as he heads into the second half of his seventeenth season in Formula 1.
