[F1 2019 VIDEO FEATURE] LANDO NORRIS: ON HIS GAME

Lando Norris continues to impress at McLaren, qualifying for the second-straight race in the top-10, again shading experienced teammate Carlos Sainz in Bahrain; adding eight points for sixth.

It’s been a dream start for the precocious 19-year-old, who’s not only the youngest-ever British F1 driver, but the youngest-ever McLaren driver, a set of records only significant to historians. Not him.

F1 DRIVER, McLAREN:
“I don’t think it’s going to put any pressure on me, to be honest. It’s not something I actually knew to begin with. So it’s not something I think about, and I think will hinder me in any way. I think it’s more of an opportunity, really.”

Norris has long been a rapid standout, as a former European and World Karting Champion before he’d even progressed to cars.

2014 WORLD KARTING CHAMPION:
“Next year I'm in the new series MSA Formula, it's obviously quite a big step from what I did this year racing in the Ginetta Series, it was more of a stepping stone to get into the car world, the car series.”

Norris proved unstoppable, winning the MSA Formula title, Toyota Racing Series title, Formula Renault 2.0 NEC and Euro cup, European F3, before being runner-up in Formula 2 last year.

Underneath the calm exterior, though, lies an aggressive racer - and one who’s also aggressively self-critical, knowing it’s the only way forward for his career… and he spent the off-season analysing every part of a Grand Prix weekend to start strong in Australia.

F1 DRIVER, McLAREN:
“It’s been my busiest winter ever, pretty much. I didn’t have that long off. All the preparation is worth it, and I think it makes me more ready going into the first race.”

Bahrain proved that resultant performance wasn’t a flash in the pan, and against Sainz who is no slouch in a Formula 1 car.

On target, and up to speed, Norris is very quickly standing out as one to watch as the season is starting to heat up.
